Núria is since 2021 Associate Professor at the Faculty of Information and Audiovisual Media (FIMA) at Universitat de Barcelona.
In July 2023, she was appointed as Delegate of the Rector for the direction of the Unit of Equality and was also designated as Director of the PhD Programme of Information and Communication, both at Universitat de Barcelona.
She serves as the Principal Investigator (PI) for the research project HerStory, funded by Spain’s National R&D&I Plan of the Ministry of Science and Innovation (Ref. PID2023-147673OB-I00), and previously served as PI for the projects Women and Wikipedia (W&W), also funded by the same program (Ref. PID2020-116936RA-I00/AEI/10.13039/501100011033), and Cover Women, supported by Wikimedia Foundation Research Grants. Additionally, she was co-director of the academic journal BiD (ISSN 1575-5886) at the time the actions were implemented to raise its quartile ranking from Q4 to Q3 (2021-23).
Her academic credentials include a European PhD in Information Science (awarded by Universitat de Barcelona, 2010) achieving the distinction of “excellent cum laude”, a Master’s degree in Information and Knowledge Society (IN3-UOC, 2005) as well as Bachelor’s degrees in both Information and Documentation (2003, UOC) and Journalism (1998, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, UAB).
Starting from January 2002, she embarked on her professional journey at Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, initially contributing to the Virtual Library and later, from 2005, as an associated lecturer at the Information and Communication Faculty. Núria also assumed part-time lecturer roles at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), Universitat de Barcelona (UB) and Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF).
Her instructional focus revolves predominantly around user experience (UX) and interaction design (IxD) mainly in the Master of Digital Humanities and the BA of Digital Information and Documentation Management, both at UB.
Núria’s academic pursuits led her to be a visiting researcher at the Information School at Sheffield University in 2009 (UK) and at the Institute of Information Studies at Tallin University in 2015 (Estonia).
